Place requirements for escalators and moving walks

1. Requirements for the adjacent areas of escalators and moving walks

At the entrances and exits of escalators and moving walkways, there should be a sufficiently unblocked area to accommodate passengers. The width of the unobstructed area is at least equal to the distance between the center lines of the handrail, and its depth is at least 2.5m from the turning end of the handrail. If the width of the zone is increased to more than twice the center distance of the handrail belt, its depth is allowed to be reduced to 2m.

The vertical clear height of the steps of the escalator or the treads of the moving walk or the tape shall not be less than 2.3m. If the obstacles of the building can cause personal injury, corresponding preventive measures should be taken. Especially at the intersection with the floor and between the escalators or moving walks that are intersected, a vertical anti-collision baffle without sharp edges should be set above the outer cover, and its height should not be less than 0.3 meters. (Except when the distance between the center line of the handrail and any obstacle is not less than 0.5m)

The horizontal distance between the outer edge of the handrail and the wall or other obstacles shall not be less than 80mm under any circumstances. This distance shall be maintained to a height of at least 2.1m above the escalator steps and the treads of the moving walk or the tape. For escalators arranged in parallel or crossing adjacent to each other, the distance between the outer edges of the handrail belts shall be at least 120mm.

2. The space of the engine room, drive and steering station

There should be a large enough area and space for people without any fixed equipment in the machine room and steering station. The area of the open space should be at least 0.3m2, and the length of the smaller side should not be less than 0.5m.

When the main driving device or brake is installed between the passenger branch and the return branch of the steps, pedals or tapes, a suitable near-level footing platform shall be provided in the working section, and its area shall not be less than 0.12 square meters, with the smallest side The size is not less than 0.3m.

The space in front of the separated ji room, drive and steering station, and fixed control panel (cabinet) should enable maintenance personnel to conveniently and safely access all equipment, especially the electrical connection. The specific requirements for these spaces are as follows:

a. There must be a free space in the front area of the control panel (cabinet) width (less than 0.5m according to the 0.5m requirement) with a depth of 0.8m;

b. There should be a free space with a bottom area of at least 0.5m×0.6m where necessary maintenance and inspection of moving parts are required;

c. The width of the passage leading to these free spaces is at least 0.5m. Where there are no moving parts, the width of the passage is allowed to be reduced to 0.4m.

Three, lighting

Escalators or moving walks and their surroundings, especially near the comb plate, should have adequate and appropriate lighting. The lighting is allowed to be installed in the surrounding space or in the equipment itself. At the entrance and exit, the illuminance including the comb plate is consistent with the illuminance required in the area. The illuminance at the entrances and exits of indoor or outdoor escalators and moving walkways shall be at least 50LX or 15LX respectively.
